If you are unsure which instrument might suit your child, we can recommend the book entitled "The Right Instrument for your Child" (written by Atarah Ben-Tovim and Douglas Boyd). It offers guidance based on your child’s personality, physical characteristics and musicality. You might also find it helpful to know that there is a national shortage of musicians who play the french horn, trombone, oboe and bassoon. In addition, Highgate will soon have a shortage of trumpeters, so any of these musicians would be especially encouraged.

GUITAR

Ms Westcott teaches piano to children (and adults) at her home in Muswell Hill. She is a member of the ISM and is highly recommended by a Highgate parent (although   she has not had a formal police check). HELP WITH MUSIC PRACTICE

Mr Jones is an ex Highgate pupil who is currently at Music College. He is a very good violinist/pianist and is happy to provide help with music practice in the holidays (accompaniment, aural tests etc).

 

SECOND HAND SHEET MUSIC FOR SALE/DONATION

 

Many thanks to those who have donated their second hand sheet music for sale. We now have a large selection for a variety of instruments including clarinet, piano, violin and saxophone. They are stored in the second hand uniform store in Cholmeley, (access via the JS Office) and are available for sale at prices ranging from 50p to £2 per sheet or booklet. All proceeds go to the PA charities.
